After an alcohol relapse, many recovering alcoholics ask themselves "how did this happen?" But there’s a more important question: WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO NEXT? After a relapse, professional alcohol rehab can get you or your loved one’s life back on track. Call Treatment Solutions Network today at 877-417-6237.
Whether an alcoholic has been in recovery for two years or 20, there is always the chance that they may relapse. Alcohol rehab and 12-step programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous don’t offer a "cure" for problem drinking. What recovery DOES offer is a way to stay sober and happy – one day at a time. Just because you’ve relapsed yesterday doesn’t mean you can’t stay sober today. Focus on doing the right things to further your recovery RIGHT NOW, and before long it may be months or years since you’ve last had a drink.
Think of the journey through recovery as a long road trip – a trip that takes you far away from the hopelessness and despair of addiction. Along the way, your car might occasionally get a flat tire, or a radiator hose might burst.
These minor setbacks will delay getting to your destination, but if you simply fix the flat tire, or replace the busted hose, you’re still be well on your way again very quickly.
Now what happens if you keep driving on that flat tire? Well, pretty soon the tire rim will be destroyed, the wheel itself might fall off, and you could end up in a fatal accident.
To ignore your alcohol relapse is to treat your life like that car. Instead of making the needed, easy fix, you insanely keep driving with only three good tires and a busted hose – and you could wind up destroying everything.
Don’t focus on the car breaking down. Unexpected setbacks are a part of life. The best alcohol relapse prevention efforts can never completely erase the chance of a relapse. But "woe is me" thoughts won’t get your recovery back on the road. To bounce back from a relapse, you must TAKE ACTION. Call us today if you are ready to take the action necessary to prevent your relapse from getting out of control. 877-417-6237
After a relapse, it’s important to nip things in the bud and immediately enter an alcohol rehab program, including undergoing alcohol detox, if necessary. The response to an alcohol relapse must be aggressive, as there is always a danger that the alcoholic will permanently go back to problem drinking - potentially causing irreversible damage to their family, health, and career.
Don’t let an alcohol relapse threaten your or your loved one’s addiction recovery. At Treatment Solutions Network, we have an extensive network of high quality rehab facilities that are experienced in dealing with clients who have just relapsed. The addiction counselors at our relapse treatment centers will work with the alcoholic to figure out WHY the relapse happened and what steps must be taken to prevent it from occurring again.

Our recommendations to you are based solely on what treatment program fits your specific needs.
Alcoholism is a disease that, unfortunately, includes relapses. No recovering alcoholic is immune from the threat of relapse – no matter how much money is in their wallet, or what kind of car they drive.
Josh Hamilton, an All-Star outfielder with the Texas Rangers, suffered an alcohol relapse that was embarrassingly captured on photos that were posted on the Internet. Hamilton, who is married with three daughters, was shown in the photos taking shots off the bar, and dancing and hugging several young women.
Hamilton addressed the issue head-on, telling about a dozen reporters gathered in front of his locker that alcoholism is tough to overcome.
"I’m not perfect. It’s an ongoing struggle," Hamilton said. "If I think I can have one drink, I think I can have two, then it snowballs to 10 or 12."
Following his relapse, Hamilton immediately turned to his personal support network to get himself back on track. Any alcoholic who has just relapsed should do the same – call your family, call your 12-step sponsor, and call the Treatment Consultants at Treatment Solutions Network.
